Proactive pets has devised a simple, effective and caring “4 Step Program” to assist in curbing unwanted behaviour from your pet. Positive re-enforcement goes a long way. These steps will assist in showing you just how to take control by staying calm, whilst being assertive. Teaching your fury family member who really is in charge of the household – “whose lounge is it anyway?” The result is a better understanding between you and your beloved fur child for a healthier, happier environment for all!

We have been helping dogs and their owners for the last 4 years with behavioural and day to day training issues. We have been trained in Dog Communication (between pet and owner) by Tony Fennel who is a leading dog whisperer in the UK. From this training, we have devised a method of helping people to understand why their dog is doing the things it does and helping to educate them with ways on how to better communicate with their beloved fur child, hence a better understanding between them, by giving the owner instruction on how to help and reshape the day to day behaviour of their pet. The method we use is gentle and caring but effective, using a lot of positive reinforcement to communicate with both owner and their dog.

We have had a lot of success with implementing these methods. They are based around the family structure (which includes your beloved canine) and helps them to understand pack leadership. The pack leader is not the person who shouts the loudest commands, it is the one who behaves most like the “Alpha” dog. It is up to YOU to send out the right signals to you dogs in a calm, assertive and convincing way, or the dog will assume the Alpha role in an instinctive way, to ensure survival of the pack, which is how they would naturally act in the wild.

Once we show you how to assert yourselves, this will enable you to gain respect and trust from your dogs and the energy of your combined family pack will then start to function in a more harmonious way.

By using the recommended “4” methods of approach, the dogs will learn their place within the pack, thus relieving the stress and anxiety associated with leadership. They will know that the job of leader is taken by yourselves and will trust that you are now looking out for the safety and survival of the pack and that it is not their job anymore, which will allow your dogs to relax and enjoy life, as they were meant to.

Dogs that display types of behavioural problems are often confused about their status within the pack and will show different signs e.g. jumping, invading your personal space (uninvited), barking, even confusion and growling can occur, which all increases disharmony within the pack.

The methods that we will show you need to be adopted as an ongoing part of your daily routine. In the wild, the Alpha dog and his mate never have a “day off” or they would lose their status within the pack as the “Leaders”. The process will become second nature after a while. By convincing your dog, through these methods, that you are capable of taking the lead and being able to communicate this to you dogs in a way that they understand, will bring about harmony, reassurance and a happy pack (owners included).
